Sadikshya Sharma

Sadikshya Sharma is a first year Ph.D. student in Forest Resources at the Department of Ecosystem Sciences and Management at Penn State, USA. She received her master’s degree in Forest Resources from Penn State and bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Agriculture and Forestry University, Nepal. Her Master’s thesis explored the economics of ecosystem services to integrate human values into decision making for supporting sustainable policy solutions for private forest management in Pennsylvania. Currently, she is working as a Research Assistant on “Thriving Agricultural Systems in Urbanized Landscapes” Project, which investigates the impact of national governmental policies and markets on economic and environmental sustainability. In addition, she is evaluating carbon market opportunities for the forest owners in the USA as a part of The Rob Olszewski Fellowship in Forest Policy & Analysis. The project aims to produce a science-based interactive decision-making tool that will allow forest owners to evaluate and determine best existing programs that meet the needs and preferences of diverse categories of forest owners. Her research interests are Food-Energy-Water (FEW) nexus, sustainability issues, natural resource management, participatory decision making, carbon budgeting and climate change. Her career goal is to work as a policy analyst to address global Food-Energy-Water (FEW) nexus issues by enhancing or sustaining ecosystem services and developing resilient natural systems.
