Madeline Luthard is a second-year Ph.D. student working on a dual-title degree in Ecology and Biogeochemistry. As an undergraduate at UC San Diego, she developed an interest in applying ecological principles to agricultural management in order to balance food production and environmental protection. At PSU, she studies carbon and nitrogen dynamics in agroecosystems, and hopes to explore how management strategies interact with climate change to influence nutrient cycling and production outcomes. Her research is motivated by a desire to provide accessible and actionable decision support to farmers, with the goal of increasing the climate resilience of agricultural systems across spatial scales.
