AEDG’s Senior Director of Advanced Storage & Microgrid Markets

Don brings decades of experience in energy efficiency solar, storage and generation markets to AEDG. Prior to joining in 2018, Don was with GE focused on Energy Storage & MicroGrid Program Management, promoting, and driving numerous corporate strategies and initiatives in North America and emerging global DER and MicroGrid markets. Before joining GE, Don founded Solar Grid Storage, an innovative company that dramatically increased the understanding, marketability and value of deploying Renewable Energy MicroGrids with Advanced Inverter and Energy Storage Systems, focusing on commercial-, military-, industrial-, and utility-scale projects, identifying and monetizing new and untapped market revenue streams that reduced installed costs, enhanced purchase decision-making, and enabling energy surety and security.

While at Solar Grid Storage, one of Don’s milestone projects was the building of The GridStar Center in cooperation with Penn State University at The Philadelphia Navy Yard. GridStar, a DOE sponsored Micro Grid Facility, was built to accelerate the commercialization of renewable energy and Advanced Inverter and Advanced Energy Storage technologies through education, workforce development, demonstration, and certification programs. Don’s first entrepreneurial startup was Solar Strategies Development Corp, a Net-Zero Energy Home Builder, that integrated Passive Design, Solar Hot Water Systems, Solar PV and Emergency Battery Back-up Systems, building projects from Vermont to Tennessee utilizing advanced Modular Construction means to develop residential and commercial structures that functioned as a Microgrids with Islanding Capabilities, if and when the grid went down. Don graduated from Drexel University in 1985 in International Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies.
