D. Scott Bennett Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of the Liberal Arts and Distinguished Professor of Political Science. He joined Penn State in 1994, and served as head of the department of Political Science from 2009-2014. He has also served as co-chair of Penn State’s Research Computing and Cyber-Infrastructure governance board, and is Associate Director of the Correlates of War Project. Scott’s research uses statistical and simulation models to study international conflict, war termination, and insurgency. He has published numerous articles about international conflict, is the co-author of the The Behavioral Origins of War (University of Michigan Press, 2004), and is the co-author of the EUGene, MARGene, and NewGene software programs, which are used by researchers analyzing international conflict data. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
